Tigerhawks come up short in eight innings

COLFAX — Colfax-Mingo’s Tigerhawks battled back from an 8-0 deficit Friday night at home, tying the South Hamilton Hawks 13-13 in the seventh inning. The two Heart of Iowa Conference teams went to extra innings.

Actually, it was one extra inning. The Hawks scored three times in the eighth inning and kept the Tigerhawks from scoring to post a 16-13 win.

Zarek Hill was the Colfax-Mingo starting pitcher, but gave way to Misah Seebeck, who took the loss. Seebeck recorded six strikeouts.

The Tigerhawks racked up 15 hits led by Seebeck and Jonathan Jacobs with three base hits each. Alex Lewis had a single and a double. Adam Teed, Hill and Jimmy Camp each hit two singles. Camp drove in three runs while Reed, Seebeck and Lewis each had two RBIs.

Colfax-Mingo plays at Prairie City-Monroe Monday in HOIC action.

Greene County 8, CMB 2

JEFFERSON — A five-run third inning put host Greene County’s Rams in control of Friday’s Heart of Iowa Conference game with Collins-Maxwell/Baxter. The Raiders scored a run in the first and one in the seventh as they dropped an 8-2 decision on the road.

Seth Balke was on the mound the complete game for CMB. He gave up 11 hits, walked one and struck out three batters.

Brady Stover and Balke each had two singles. Spencer Gauch and Tucker Marshall had a single apiece.

CMB was slated to play in the West Marshall tournament Saturday.

Sigourney 10,

Lynnville-Sully 0

SIGOURNEY — Lynnville-Sully could not come up with a solution to stop their hosts from scoring Friday. The Hawks lost 10-0 in six innings to the Sigourney Savages in South Iowa Cedar League action.

The teams played three scoreless innings before the Savages scored four runs in the fourth. Sigourney piled on two runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth.

No statistics for Lynnville-Sully from the game were available at press time. Lynnville-Sully is 7-4 in SICL play and 8-5 overall. It hosts Iowa Valley in conference action Monday at Sully.
