Peggy Ann Jones

Peggy Ann Jones, 72, of Pershing, formerly of Newton, died Monday, June 15, 2015, at Comfort House in Pella. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 20 at the Harvey Assembly of God Church in Harvey. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Comfort House may be left at the church on the day of the service or sent to the family.

Peggy, the daughter of Wilson and Marjorie McReynolds, was born July 9, 1942, in Iowa City. She graduated from Newton High School in 1960. Peggy was united in marriage with Robert D. Gray, Sr. in 1960. To this union, three children were born, Robbie, Becky and Todd. She was later married to James Jones Nov. 5, 1977, gaining two stepchildren, Kip and Kyle.

Peggy worked at The Maytag Company for several years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Knoxville. She enjoyed traveling, going to garage sales, karaoke, her dogs and many other animals, and spending time with her family.

Those left to honor Peggy’s memory include her husband, James Jones; children, Robbie (Melody) Gray of Newton, Becky (Randy) Hall of Montezuma, and Todd (Melissa) Gray of Newton; stepson, Kyle Jones of Knoxville; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Barbara (Jerry) Keenan of Newton, Linda Carr of Knoxville, and Wilma (Clarence) Thomas of Albia; her siblings-in-law, Lode (Ruth) Jones of Pershing, Tom (Marie) Jones of Knoxville, and Phyllis (Spaz) Kennedy of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herman McReynolds; sister, Willa Kay McReynolds; her stepson, Kip Jones; and her brother-in-law, Charlie Carr.
