First Budget will ensure candidates address national deficit

First Budget is a nonpartisan initiative to raise public awareness of the dangers of our nation’s unsustainable budget policies, and ensure fixing this problem is a priority for presidential candidates. Bringing together a variety of volunteers, leaders, students and every day Iowans is imperative to making a change.

Recently they announced their “Iowa Cabinet,” which consists of business, civic and political leaders from across the state. While this cabinet is a robust, bipartisan list of some of Iowa’s leaders, there is not a single citizen in Iowa or throughout this country who should not care about the federal debt or join us in this initiative.

Rep. Dan Kelley, political leader David Oman, and educational leader Danette Kenne are devoting their time to the issue, and are ensuring our next president, whoever that is, tells us how they will address dealing with the national deficit and the debt when he or she submits their “First Budget.”

Our nation’s escalating debt is a serious problem – it affects every single American citizen. This debt will not only have effects on our future, but also the future of our children and grandchildren. We are fortunate to have concerned leaders from Iowa volunteering their time to this crucial initiative.
