Mark your calendar for local Vacation Bible School events

Several local churches are holding Vacation Bible School through out the summer with a few beginning next week. Here is a rundown of events at each church.

The First Lutheran, First
Presbyterian and United
Presbyterian churches

“Everest: Conquering Challenges with God’s Mighty Power” runs from 9 a.m. to noon starting Monday and finished up Friday, based at the First Lutheran Church. Preschool through sixth graders can learn the many mighty powers that God has to share through stations such as Base Camp Sing and Play, Summit Celebration, Imagination Station, Glacier Games, Bible Expedition, Mountaintop Treats and more.

Kids will start and end at the First Lutheran church each day with kindergarten through sixth graders also traveling to stations at First Presbyterian and United Presbyterian Churches. Preschoolers will remain at First Lutheran traveling from room to room.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Also beginning Monday, "Everest: The Coolest VBS Ever!" takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Wednesday Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Kids can hear music, have lip-smacking snacks and have fun making new friends. For more information contact the church at 641-792-2050.

The Newton
Church of the Way

Rough Waves Jesus Saves Summer Camp, for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade, is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. June 22 through 25 at the Newton Church of the Way. This summer, kids will have the opportunity to hear amazing truths about Jesus and learn to trust that God will keep his promise to take care of us anytime, anywhere, when life is tough.

The final evening, June 25, will be family night where everyone is invited to come and work together on a mission project. Register online or at the church office. For more information contact Marcy Milburn at 641-792-7300.

Newton Christian
Reformed Church

Also the week of June 22, Duck Destiny VBS starts at 9 a.m. running to noon through June 26 at the Newton Christian Reformed Church. Fun crafts, creative snacks, dramatized Bible stories and live music will be available for children four year old through entering sixth grade.

Cornerstone Bible Fellowship

“Journey OFF the Map” vacation Bible school is 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 6 though 10 at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. Registration forms can be found on the churches website with more information available by contacting cbfnewton@gmail.com

Our Savior Lutheran Church

"Camp Discovery" VBS from 9 to 11 a.m. July through 10 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. For more information contact the church at 641-792-1084.

St Luke United
Methodist Church

The Son Spark Labs Show VBS will take place from July 13 through 17 at St Luke United Methodist Church. Children 3 years old through those who have completed sixth grade are invited to join in the fun. For more information contact St Luke's at 641-792-5736.

Grace Church

"Outback Rock: Where kids venture into solid faith" will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 28 through 30 at Grace Church. Children ages preschool through fifth grade are invited to attend the event where fun activities and games are planned. For more information contact Grace Church at 641-792-1793.
