Man arrested after leaving jail, making death threat

A Knoxville man who was just released from jail was arrested after making a death threat and violating a no-contact order with a Newton victim.

Jeremy W. Schroeder, 31, had just been released from jail on Wednesday when he allegedly made the comment he was going to kill the victim.

Officers were called to the victim's residence in Newton after she reported Schroeder had just gone by her house on a bike. Officers stayed in the area and found Schroeder less than two blocks from the residence.

Schroeder is charged with violating a no contact order and was taken to the Jasper County Jail where he is being held on a $2,000 cash bond.

Schroeder was charged May 17 with assault causing bodily injury, criminal trespass with injury, harassment, fifth-degree criminal mischief and interference with official acts.

Officers were called to a Newton residence about an unwanted guest and found Schroeder in the garage. The victim said he unlocked the garage and broke in through the door in the garage and pushed her, but that she did not want to pursue charges. Officers were called back to the residence a short time later after the victim reported Schroeder punched out a window and a piece of glass hitting the victim's face.
