Library’s summer reading program kickoff is Tuesday

The summer reading kickoff for all ages will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. A free hotdog picnic provided by Hy-Vee will be on the library lawn for kids. Registration for the summer reading program for toddlers through sixth grade begins at 4 p.m. All children who register will receive a plastic book bag and a summer reading book log to keep track of the books you have read.

How to register: You may bring a completed registration form to the picnic to save time. Pick up a registration form at the library, or download one from the library website, www.newton.lib.ia.us If you can't make it to the picnic, you may still join the summer reading program anytime during the summer. We will not accept registration forms until the picnic begins.

Adults can register at the Information Desk starting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Individual events will be open for registration as well. First 20 registrants receive a special giveaway.

Program flyers are available at the library checkout counter.

All this summer, adults that checkout five items or more at a time will be entered for weekly giveaways at the checkout counter.
