Recently the Newton Daily News has printed letters referring to the proposed Bakken oil pipeline.
It is my opinion that the word “proposed” is not applicable. Why do I have that opinion? Because I believe Branstad has cut a backdoor deal with Bakken. And why do I have that opinion? Branstad replaced a member of the State Utility Board, and I have neither read nor heard a believable explanation for changing the makeup of the Utility Board unless it was done to assure a favorable decision for Bakken.
And why is the Bakken Company delivering pipe to Jasper County ahead of a decision by the Utility Board? I do not believe that a company would go to the expense of hauling the pipe to the “proposed” area and then the expense of hauling the pipe back if the project is rejected by the Utility Board.
Time will tell.
