Newton native crowned Pony Express Jr. Queen

Emily Miller, daughter of Rick and Kim Miller of Newton, was crowned the 2015 Marshall County Pony Express Jr. Queen in Gilman Monday. Miller will represent the club at this year’s Junior Cowgirl Queen Contest, which will be at the Iowa State Fair Aug. 14. Miller was judged on her horsemanship and showing ability, ease of answering questions from the judge and her cowgirl queen salute. Miller has represented the Marshall County Pony Express for the past three years, and made it to the top 20 finalists in last year’s Iowa State Fair contest, out of 80 girls vying for the title. Pony Express is a network of volunteers who assist individuals with disabilities.
