Newton Police Department

• Shawn M. Collum, 26, of Grinnell, was arrested on a Poweshiek County warrant for failure to serve jail time after authorities pulled him over in the 100 block of North Fourth Avenue East at 2:35 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Richard E. Keller, 33, of Newton, was arrested on a Cerro Gordo County warrant for failure to appear and Jasper County Sheriff warrant for a sex offender registration violation after authorities were called to 315 W. Fourth St. S. at 7:01 p.m. Friday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• William L. Filson, 43, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear after authorities were called to 1425 N. 11th Ave. E. #6 at 7:05 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Rhonda K. Beeler, 47, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled her over in the 400 block of First Avenue East at 10:40 p.m. Friday. She was cited and released to appear.

• Joshua D. Jiron, 25, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled him over in the 200 block of South Eighth Avenue East at 1:29 a.m. Sunday. Officers saw a vehicle swerve and travel at high speeds. After being pulled over, officers smelled alcohol on Jiron and he had blood shot eyes. He had a BAC of .099. He was cited and released to appear.

• Abigail M. Carter, 23, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled her over in the 1800 block of Highway 14 South at 9:28 p.m. May 19. Officers were informed of a possible drunk driver on Interstate 80 and located Carter. While driving she was on the shoulder and straddled the center line. Once pulled over, officers smelled alcohol and saw she had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. She was cited and released to appear.

• Chance J. Griffith, 23, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Hy-Vee at 2:03 a.m. Sunday. Officer spoke with Hy-Vee employees who said that Griffith informed them he stole some items and wanted to go to jail. When asked why he said he was homeless and wanted a place to sleep. The items he took included a package of brownies and a liter of Coke, which he consumed. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Marcus A. Danger, 29, of Newton, is charged with assault after authorities were called to 425 E. Fourth St. S. at 9:20 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the victim who alleged Danger punched her in the face, causing her to bleed from her mouth. She also complained of two broken or cracked teeth. He was cited and released to appear.

• Ryan M. Tool, 20, is charged with trespassing after authorities were called to 411 S. 11th Ave. W. at 5:26 a.m. Friday. Officers were called about a male trying to break into the residence that he had been kicked out of May 7. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• David D. Wilson, 35, of Newton, is charged with driving while license denied after authorities pulled him over in the 700 block of North Second Avenue West at 12:22 a.m. Saturday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
