Darcy Ann Croson, 55, of Ames, died on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship in Newton. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials in Darcy’s name to be used for veterans suffering from PTSD may be left at the church the day of the service or the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Darcy, the daughter of Brian and Janice (Gobeli) Croson, was born on April 13, 1960 in Ames. She grew up in Lisbon and Hampton, where she attended the United Methodist Church. Darcy graduated from Hampton High School in 1978 and attended the Fashion Merchandising program at Ellsworth Community College. She later moved to Newton and most recently was living in Ames. Darcy loved her dogs, Spunky and Buddy, listening to music, but mostly she liked making friends, laughing and having fun.

Darcy is survived by her special friend, Doug Greiner of Ames; parents, Brian and Janice Croson of North Carolina; sisters, Pam (Tom) Warwick of Coulter and Rhonda (Les) Hamblin of North Carolina; brother, Scott (Cristy) Croson of Pella; her seven nieces and nephews; and five great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents and her son, Private Benjamin Scott Croson of the 133rd Division of the Iowa National Guard in 2010.
