Jasper County K-9 unit assists in drug seizure

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted in executing a drug search warrant Thursday where more than five grams of methamphetamine was seized along with other illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Rick Langstraat, 49, of Leighton is charged with possession of with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of meth, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, two counts of failing to affix a drug tax stamp and possession of a firearm as a felon after authorities searched his property at 1176 Old Highway 92 in Leighton, according to a police report.

The Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force along with the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office and Oskaloosa Police Department were also on the scene. Langstraat was taken to the Mahaska County Jail and is awaiting his initial appearance.
