Newton Police Department

• Jeremy W. Schroeder, 31, of Newton, is charged with assault causing bodily injury, criminal trespass with injury, harassment, fifth-degree criminal mischief and interference with official acts after authorities were called to 506 N. Eighth Ave. E. at 12:16 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called about an unwanted guest and found Schroeder in the garage. The victim said that he unlocked the garage and broke in through the door in the garage. The victim said Schroeder pushed her but that she did not want to pursue charges, only that he was not welcome at the property. Officers were called back to the residence a short time later after the victim said she kept hearing knocks on her door and Schroeder had stayed next door. The victim decided she wanted to pursue trespassing charges and when she told Schroeder he punched out a window with a piece of glass hitting the victim in the face. The victim was treated and Schroeder was taken into custody after he was found riding a bike with injuries to his hand. He was transported to Skiff Medical Center where he refused treatment. He was transported to the jail where he did not comply with officers requests and slammed his head into a booking cell.

• Carlos Bonilla, 34, of Newton, is charged with public intoxication after authorities were called to 320 S. Third Ave. E. at 5:12 a.m. Wednesday. Officers were called about an unwanted guest and told Bonilla to stay in his apartment. He called 911 several times after being told not to and was not following directions. He smelled of alcohol and had red, watery and bloodshot eyes. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Shaun M. Gienger, 37, of Newton, is charged with second-degree theft after authorities were called to Sunrise Terrance at 10 p.m. May 14. Gienger was allowed to use a vehicle for a short trip but did not return. He said that he would call the victim to work out a return of the vehicle but never called. A warrant was issued for Gienger.
