Newton Police Department

• Katelund E. Jeffrey, 18, of Prairie City, is charged with failure to maintain control after authorities were called to 1102 E. 12th St. S. at 4:36 p.m. May 15. Erik Baker was traveling north on East 12th Street South and took a wide turn to enter a driveway. His vehicle was hit by Jeffrey’s vehicle on the passenger side. Baker had approximately $1,200 in damage and Jeffrey had approximately $2,000 in damage. She was cited and released to appear.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Maryna J. Martin, 21, of Windsor Heights, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled her over on Interstate 80 at 4:33 a.m. Monday. Martin was seen crossing the center line and driving well under the speed limit prior to being pulled over. Officers smelled alcohol on her and she had a BAC of .110. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kaysha L. Otto, 24, of Urbandale, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities were called to Highway 163 by Prairie City at 11:03 p.m. Tuesday. Otto was involved in a single vehicle crash. Officers smelled alcohol on her and she had watery eyes and slurred speech. She admitted to having two beers in Des Moines. She had a BAC of .215. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
