Newton Police Department

• Mareah R. Simpson, 36, of Newton, was arrested on a Marshalltown Police Department warrant for failure to appear after authorities were called to 2012 First Ave. E. at 10:44 a.m. Monday. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over at the intersection of North Third Avenue East and East 12th Street North at 3:46 a.m. Sunday. He was cited and released to appear.

• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with defective breaking equipment after authorities were called to the intersection of First Avenue East and East 12th Street at 7:02 p.m. Friday. Alex Leinen was stopped when the juvenile approached and after applying the brakes was unable to stop and his vehicle hit Leinen’s vehicle. Leinen’s vehicle had approximately $1,200 in damage. The juvenile was cited and released to appear.

• Kristine N. Martin, 45, of Newton, is charged with failure to yield upon left turn after authorities were called to the intersection of East 10th Street North and North Eighth Avenue East at 2:49 p.m. Friday. Taylor Fank was driving through the intersection when Martin turned into her vehicle, hitting it with her vehicle. Fank had approximately $1,200 in damage and Martin had approximately $1,000 in damage. She was cited and released to appear.
