Iowa Speedway doubleheader on national television Thursday

NASCAR K&N Pro Series and Season 2 episode of West End Salvage will air May 21

Thursday night’s blueprint is simple. Take one part Iowa Speedway, one part Don Short. Add a handful of Chevrolet auto parts and a pinch of designers. The result: an episode of DIY Network’s West End Salvage and beautifully made tailgate games for fans at Iowa Speedway.

The Fastest Short Track on the Planet will be featured in the May 21 episode of West End Salvage on DIY Network at 5 p.m. In the episode, West End Salvage owner Don Short and his team work with Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small to create custom tailgate games in time for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series American Ethanol 200. NASCAR driver Ben Kennedy also makes an appearance to give his stamp of approval on the fan friendly pieces.

“I am really curious to see the creative process through which our tailgating games were made,” said Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small. “Tailgating is a big part of our sport, and the West End Architectural Salvage team made games that are as unique as our 7/8 mile track. We are especially proud to have worked with an Iowa company like West End Salvage to create games that will entertain our fans for years to come.”

The second half of the Iowa Speedway Thursday night Double Header will feature the thrilling NASCAR K&N Pro Series Casey’s General Stores 150 television broadcast. To check out the thrilling night race from Wide Opening Weekend, tune into NBC Sports Network at 11 p.m. Thursday.

The bi-annual combination event between the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West has been the scene for career-launching wins by drivers such as Joey Logano, Chase Elliott and native Iowan, Brett Moffitt. Tune in to see who reached Casey’s General Stores Victory Lane.
