Raymond Harrison, 85, of Newton died on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Newton Healthcare. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 21 at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials to Iowa River Hospice or the Disabled Veteran’s Fund may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Raymond, the son of Ray and Eunice (Henderson) Harrison, was born on Oct. 20, 1929 in Fremont. He graduated from school in Fremont and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Raymond moved to Newton in 1954 and worked as a tool hardener at the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 1984. On July 3, 1971 Raymond was united in marriage with Holly “Pat” Tarbell in Albia. Raymond was a member of the UAW Local 997. He enjoyed bowling and traveling.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Mary (Jack) Penny of Newton; son, Paul Harrison of Missouri; step-children, Charlis Douglas of Mabank, Texas, Anne (Bill) Colwell of Knoxville, Donald (Caroline) Little of Newton, and David Little (Jo Johnson) of Newton; his eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hollys “Pat” Harrison; two brothers, Lew and Wilbur Harrison; two great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law and son-in-law.
