• Michael R. McGhghy, 57, of Newton, is charged with consumption/intoxication in public place after authorities were called to 1501 First Avenue East at 11:30 p.m. Friday. Officers smelled alcohol on McGhghy, and he had poor balance and bloodshot, watery eyes. He admitted to having three beers and had a BAC of .17. He was cited and released to appear.

• David W. Nunemann, 51, of Des Moines, is charged with driving while license suspended and open container after authorities pulled him over at the intersection of South 12th Avenue West and Highway 6 at 1:17 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Shirley J. Crady, 70, of Newton, is charged with failure to obey a traffic control device after authorities were called to the intersection of First Avenue West and West Fourth Street South at 8:53 a.m. Monday. Leslie Wade was driving north when her vehicle hit Crady’s vehicle as she was driving east through the intersection, after failing to yield the traffic light. Wade had approximately $2,000 in damage and Crady had approximately $2,500 in damage. She was cited and released to appear.

• Craig A. Watson, 50, of Newton, is charged with consumption of alcohol in a public place and interference with official acts after authorities were called to the Scoreboard at 7:35 p.m. Friday. Officers were called on an intoxicated male that was identified as Watson. Watson accused another man of hitting him in the head and knocking him to the ground but witnesses verified that did not happen and that his level of intoxication led to him falling to the ground. He smelled strongly of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes and his speech was slurred. He could not control himself and was making a scene so he was taken into custody. He had a BAC of .315. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
