Hawk girls win title, boys second at Montezuma

MONTEZUMA — Lynnville-Sully’s boys were second and the girls claimed a team title at Monday’s Darrell Brand Relays hosted by Montezuma.

Montezuma won the boys’ team title with 108 points. The Hawk boys scored 83 points for second in a nine-team field.

Lynnville-Sully girls rang up 169 points to win their division ahead of five other teams.

Sage Ehresman extended his own school record in winning the boys’ shot put a throw of 48 feet, 10.5 inches. Noah Engle claimed the discus title with a toss of 139’1 with Ehresman ins second at 132-8.

Canyon Kuhlmann won the 3,200-meter run in 11 minutes, 3.86 seconds with teammate Connor Fraker in fifth at 13:45.32. Kuhlmann ran third in the 800 in 2:22.17. Cody Gibbs placed third in the 1,600 meters in 5:25.38.

Carson Dunsbergen tied for third in the high jump at 5-4. He was fourth in the 400-mter dash in 58.24 seconds and fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:03.78. Colten Arment placed sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.74 seconds.

Engle and Ehresman combined with Caden Dunsbergen and Noah Zylstra to take second int eh 4x100 relay in 46.93 seconds.. In the 4x200, Engle, David Bastuck, Corey McCoy and Ehresman posted a third-place time of 1:38.79.

Arment, Engle, Ryan Hofer and Caden Dunsbergen ran a second-place time of 1:05.90 in the shuttle hurdle relay race. The Hawk boys’ distance medley relay team of Sage Zylstra, Cayden Johnson, Karl Recknagel and Bastuck placed third in 4:16.44.

Lynnville-Sully’s 4x400 foursome of Sage Zylstra, Gibbs, Johnson and Elijah Collins placed fourth in 4:13.86. The 4x800 relay team of Collins, Jake Brand, Kemper Lukehart and Sage Zylstra was sixth in 10:31.53.

Lynnville-Sully’s girls won four relay races, finished second in two and fifth in another at Montezuma.

The foursome of Kasiah Ehresman, Madison Rasmusson, Makenzy Rozendaal and Brenna Lanser claimed the gold in the 4x100 in 52.17 seconds. Ehresman, Rasmusson, Lizzy Van Manen and Lanser won the 4x200 in 1:52.91.

Ehresman combined with Mariah Vos, Cori Rice and Rasmusson to win the 4x800 in 10:40.91. The foursome of Camryn Russell, Tierney Needham, Jataya Meyer and Maria Vos took first in the spring medley relay race in 2:06.63.

Placing second in the shuttle relay race was the Hawk team of Meyer, Shelby Foster, Russell and Hailey Scandridge in 1:21.10. Van Manen, Rice, Mariah Vos and Alexis Hardenbrook ran second in the 4x400 in 4:48.18.

In the distance medley relay, Skyler Young, Needham, Olivia Ritter and Haley Breeden placed fifth in 5:56.34.

Van Manen captured gold in the discus with a throw of 105-2 and Shelby Davis was second at 87.8. Davis earned gold in the shot put ring with a toss of 34-2 and Jelissa Rozendaal was third at 28-10.

Davis took second in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-6 and McKinley Conover was fourth at 4-4. Scandridge placed fourth int he long jump with a leap of 13-10.75.

The Lynnville-Sully girls went 1-2 in the 3,000 meters led by Haley James in 14:02 with Marissa Vos was second in 15:48.21. James was second in the 1,500 in 6:18.56 and Marissa Vos placed seventh in 6:52.

Foster ran second in the 400 hurdles in 1:28.19 and Scandridge was sixth in the 100 high hurdles in 19.67 seconds. Meyer placed fourth in 100 meters in 13.66 seconds and Russell was third in the 200 at 24.69.

Rice finished second in the 400 meters in 1:10.18 and Hardenbrook was fifth in 1:14.87. Breeden placed fourth in the 800 in 3:20.94 and Rebecca Morningstar was fifth in 3:32.39.
