Tough field greets C-M girls track in Carlisle

The Colfax-Mingo girls’ track team ran into a tough field at the Carlisle Invitational on Thursday. The Tigerhawks placed just three events in the top six and finished with 16 points in claiming 12th in a 13-team field.

The only other Class 1A field was 13th place Pleasantville, which scored three points.

Creston won the meet with 88 points. Grinnell was 2.5 points back in second and host Carlisle finished with 79 in third.

The Tigerhawks took third in the 4x400-meter relay. Ries Wilson, Brianna Cooper, Dakota Hostetter and Kennedi Hostetter crossed the line in 4 minutes, 24.94 seconds.

The next best finish came from Ivy Moore, who was fourth in the 3,000 in 12:32.46.

The foursome of Kennedi Hostetter, Cooper, Dakota Hostetter and McKinzie Tjaden placed sixed in the 4x200 relay as well. That group stopped the clocked in 1:54.53.

Winterset placed fourth in the team standings with 59 and Norwalk was three points back in fifth.

Colfax-Mingo returns to action Thursday when it heads to Newton to take part in the Cardinal Relays at H.A. Lynn Stadium. Action begins at 4:30 p.m.
