Networking, connections focus of Newton library event

Learn about networking and make connections at 6:30 p.m. on April 30 at the library. Danny is a keynote speaker on networking and building real connections and frequently blogs on those topics for the Des Moines Business Record. He is a Monroe native, networking specialist, bow tie aficionado, and author. Join us in the Newton Public Library Meeting Room as Danny discusses networking and his book. Copies of the book, “The Ties That Bind,” will be available for purchase and autographing.

Chilton’s Database

We have newly acquired Chilton database for all your automotive needs. Access manuals, instructions and more for all makes and models back to 1940. Visit, our website www.newton.lib.ia.us, log in with your library card, click on Databases and use Chilton from your home or even garage. Call the Information Desk at 641-792-4108 with questions.

DASH for the Stash at the Library

Money Smart Week (MSW) ends Saturday and in celebration the Newton Public Library will be participating in DASH for the Stash. The statewide winner of this contest will be awarded $1,000 to open or add to a retirement investment account. To play, participants go to the library to find four posters. They read each poster, access the quiz question and choose an answer. The easiest way to play DASH for the Stash is to use a smart phone or mobile device to scan each poster’s QR code, but you can also use a computer. Posters will be on display at the library. Check out our Money Smart Week display while visiting the library to play the contest.

Board & Card Game Night

Join us in the library meeting room on Monday for board games and cards. This program is open to all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult. Socialize with other board and card game players. Snacks will be provided.

Authors Wanted

The Newton Public Library is hosting a Newton Alumni Author Event from 4 to 6 p.m. on June 12 in the library meeting room. We are looking for published authors who have graduated from Newton to visit with the public, answer questions about writing books, the publishing process, bring copies of their books to sell and autograph their books. Join us on Alumni weekend to celebrate what graduates have done. The library will also accept donated copies of books to add to our Iowa collection which houses books about Iowa or written by Iowa authors.
