• Second Annual Granny Basketball Extravaganza will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Berg Middle School in Newton. The Granny Mustangs, featuring all women ages 50 and older from Jasper County, will be going toe to toe with the Newton YMCA/United Way of Jasper County Globetrotters for a charity basketball game.

• Newton Lions Club Pancake Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at Jasper County Senior Center, 702 E. Third St. S. in Newton. Proceeds of the breakfast will be used toward community service projects.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services, 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton.

• Sully Big Band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Van Wijk Winery in Sully with live music and ballroom dancing. Go to www.vanwijkwinery.com for information.

• Newton High School Prom will begin at 8:45 p.m. Saturday at Newton High School, 800 E. Fourth St. S. in Newton. Prom events include: Community walk through of all decorated areas, 1 to 3 p.m., use northeast entrance; prom walk-ins, 8:45 to 10:15 p.m., southwest doors by guidance will open at 8:15 p.m. for the public to enter the auditorium; and After Prom, midnight to 4 a.m. Prom attendees must be in by 10:15 p.m. to go to prom. Dance from 8:45 to 11:45 p.m.

• Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Cellphones for Soldiers — The DMACC Newton Campus Community Organization class of Spring 2015 has teamed up with “Cellphones for Soldiers” and is collecting gently used cellphones. Phones will have free minutes added to them before they are delivered to the soldiers. Drop your old cellphone off at the front desk of the Newton Campus, 600 N. Second Ave. W. until April 28. If you are unable to do so, call 641-791-3622 and someone will come and pick up the phone.

• Beauty for Ashes will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at Hephzibah House, 721 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at noon and 7 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Boundaries women’s study will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Hephzibah House in Newton.

• Babysitting Class will meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Jasper County Extension Office in Newton. Youth attending must be in fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth grade. Call the Jasper County Extension Office at 641-792-6433 for more details.

• R.E.L.I.S.H will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at Skiff Medical Center, 204 N. Fourth Ave. E. in Newton. R.E.L.I.S.H. is a group for adults who are grieving the death of a loved one. • Celebrate Recovery women’s study will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at Hephzibah House in Newton.

• Board & Card Game Night will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Newton Public Library, 100 N. Third Ave. W. for a combined Board Game Night and Card Game Night and all are invited to stop out to play. Board and card games will be available for patrons to use. Snacks will also be provided. Children must be accompanied by adults/guardians.
