Koder, Reeve lead Mustang boys to fifth

BROOKLYN — Competing without one of their top point scorers, the Prairie City-Monroe boys track team still managed a fifth-place finish in the large-school division standings at the cold and windy BGM Invitational on Tuesday.

Leading the way for PCM was Skyler Koder, who had the team’s lone win. Koder matched a career-best jump of 6 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump and also placed second in the 110-meter high hurdles in a personal-best 16.4 seconds.

Koder also anchored the shuttle hurdle relay to a silver medal. That foursome, which also included Ricky Reeve, Luke Pendroy and Austin Sneller, crossed in 1 minute, 4.8 seconds.

Running into a strong head wind, Reeve placed second in the long jump with a best leap of 17-7.

Logan Gilman was third in the discus was a throw of 114-7 and the 4x100 team of Noah Anderson, Reeve, Tyler Dredge and Davis Herndon placed third with a time of 47.1.

PCM did not have the full services of senior Maverick McAtee.

McAtee was home sick from school on Monday and tried to give it a go for the Mustangs on Tuesday, but was sent home after struggling through his first distance race.

Bondurant-Farrar won the large school division team race. Lynnville-Sully was the small-school champion.

PCM does not compete again until it heads to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont for a 5 p.m. meet on Tuesday. The Mustangs also have a home meet on April 30.
