Mary Ellen Juett

April 14, 2015

Mary Ellen Juett, the daughter of Robert and Barbara (McElwee) McNeer, was born on Jan. 22, 1945, in Des Moines. She spent most of her years growing up in Newton and attended The Hammer Country School and later, Newton Senior High School. She graduated from Newton Sr. High in 1964.

Mary was united in marriage with Monte Juett on June 4, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. Mary was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church and was very devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary worked at Thorp Credit, was an accomplished Avon Representative for many years and a compassionate in-home caregiver for so many in the Newton community. Mary cared deeply for all those she assisted. She felt it was her calling to help others and this was one of her true joys in life. Mary was in every way a wonderful homemaker. She was such a kind, thoughtful and nurturing wife and mother. Mary lived a life abounding with love, laughter and silliness with her many brothers, two sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary’s love for her grandchildren was immeasurable. They were her whole heart. She did so much for many, and the absence of our “quiet giant” will be felt by all those fortunate to have Mary in their life.

Mary entered into heaven, at the age of 70, on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monte Juett, parents, Robert and Barbara (McElwee) McNeer, brother, Robert McNeer, his wife, Rose Anne McNeer, sister, Patricia (McNeer) Woody, her husband, Delmar Woody, sister in law, Betty McNeer, Sister in law, Mary McNeer, two grandchildren, (Brenna Kathleen McFadden), Mary’s Mother and Father in-law, Victor and Marge Juett, and Monte’s mother, Shirley (Riepe) Juett.

Left to honor Mary’s memory are three children, Renee (Rodrigo) Lozano of Fayetteville, N.C., Sean (Shelly) Juett of Bennington, Neb., and Stephanie (Mark) McFadden of Omaha, Neb.; her six grandchildren, Sarah Cristina Lozano, Catalina Nicole Lozano, Ashley Renee Van Fleet, Caitlin Mary McFadden, Natalie Marie McFadden, and Blake Patrick McFadden; sister, Theresa (McNeer) Clark, brothers, James (Anne) McNeer, John McNeer, Charles McNeer, brother in law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends that she adored.

Memorials may be sent to Duchesne Academy Of The Sacred Heart, (Omaha, Neb.) St Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church (Omaha, Neb.) Heart Ministry Center, (Omaha, Neb.) and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, (Newton).

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. A public vigil service will begin at 7 p.m.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25 at the church.
