Marilyn B. Purvis

Marilyn B. (Martin) Purvis died Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at The Towers in Mesa, Ariz., after battling years of ill health.

Marilyn, the daughter of Glendora Lewis Martin Smith and Harold R. Martin, was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Davenport. Marilyn lived with her family in Centerville and Newton. She graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1947.

On March 18, 1950, Marilyn was united in marriage with Harold D. Purvis. They made their home in Newton, until 1992 when they moved to Mesa, Ariz.

Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents; husband (July 29, 2008); two nieces; and her brother, Lewis Martin.

Those left to honor Marilyn’s memory include her sister, Loretta Miller; and brother-in-law Edwin Miller; niece Nina Robson; and several nieces and nephews.

Private family service will be held at a later date.
