Local civil rights forum planned

Fred Rhodes

Newton

On May 14, the Central Iowa Property Association is hosting a forum on Civil Rights protections and how to avoid discrimination lawsuits. The speaker will be Don Grove of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. He will be addressing the topics of proper screening of candidates for tenancy to avoid discrimination claims being brought against you or your business.

Mr. Grove will also be dealing with how to handle and file on a “non-compliance of lease” and on a “clear and present danger” situation. This forum will be held at the Panda Garden Buffet on the square in Newton. A group discussion on current topics will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the speaker to follow at 5 p.m. This will give time to eat and catch up on recent important topics that are relevant to the business of owning/investing in real estate and to learn how to make the business more productive and profitable.

In our society there are many dangers associated with business that could be devastating to your business and livelihood. You work hard and invest your hard earned money to get ahead and build your business. Being more informed and up to date will help protect you from the dangers that lurk around every corner and can easily destroy all you have worked for.

The Central Iowa Property Association is a group of landlords, business owners, investors and other professionals who are interested in making the purchase of real estate a safe and profitable business. They are devoted to providing safe and affordable housing in our neighborhoods, being fair to all the people that they deal with and to do this in a manner that will produce a profit.

They work to educate and inform all members in the intricacies of the laws of the state and how to operate their business in such a manner that they can avoid the pitfalls that cause many to fail and lose their investment in the property that their hard earned money has purchased. They are also involved in helping craft laws that will benefit our state and all of its residents.

All interested parties are invited to come and take part in this free forum (meal not provided). If you have questions you can call Fred Rhodes at 641-750-4185.
