EVANSDALE — The Evansdale City Council has voted to fire its police chief who has led the department since 2012.
The council voted 3-1 Tuesday night following a closed-door meeting to terminate 56-year-old Police Chief Kent Smock. Smock had been on extended leave from his post for the past month and a half. He declined to comment to the Waterloo Cedar-Falls Courier as he left City Hall. Mayor Doug Faas also declined to comment on why Smock was fired.
