Mustang golfers finish sixth at Bos Landen

PELLA ­­— Aside from facing some stiff competition from larger schools, the Prairie City-Monroe boys’ golf team also faced a tough golf course Friday.

The Mustangs ran into some fast greens and tight fairways and placed sixth out of 11 teams at Bos Landen Golf Course.

PCM shot a 367, edging Class 3A Oskaloosa by one stroke. Williamsburg and Creston finished 1-2 by way of a cardback after both teams finished with a 342.

Clear Lake shot a 346, Pella Green carded a 348 and Knoxville turned in a 359 to round out the top five.

Brad Hill led the Mustangs with an 84 and Reed Jenkins carded an 89. One shot back of Jenkins was Chase Keuning’s 90 and Noah Lanphier turned in the final counting score of 104. Brian Hill (105) and Ryan Broderson (108) also played.

After Oskaloosa in the team standings were Nodaway Valley (387), Pella Christian (415), Fairfield (418) and Pella ‘White’ (458).

The Mustangs return to the links at 2 p.m. Monday. They travel to Altoona to play 18 holes at Terrace Hill Golf Course. Colfax-Mingo and Collins-Maxwell/Baxter also will be competing.
