PCM wins at Lynnville-Sully golf meet; Hawks’ Trettin is medalist

LYNNVILLE — Rain stayed away while Lynnville-Sully, Prairie City-Monroe and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont golfers played a nine-hole meet at Diamond Trail Golf Course Tuesday.

“Tonight’s meet wasn’t as favorable for us against PCM and Eddyville,” said Bryan Dejong, Lynnville-Sully head coach.

The Hawks won on their home course Monday, but finished second Tuesday. PCM’s Mustangs placed six golfers in the top 10 on their way to a team win. PCM finished with a 164 team score followed by Lynnville-Sully with 176 and EBF with 188.

Lynnville-Sully’s senior Ben Trettin recorded his second straight individual victory on Diamond Trail. Trettin was the meet’s medalist with a 38. EBF’s Carter Roose shot a 39 for runner-up honors and Reid Jenkins of PCM took third with a 41.

Jenkins tied with Mustang teammates Chase Keuning, Ryan Broderson and Wade Hill, who also fired 41s for the meet. PCM’s Noah Lanphier had a 43 and Ryan Hill shot a 44.

Baker Zegars of Lynnville-Sully carded a 44 as the Hawks’ No. 2 golfer of the day. Braden Phifer of PCM finished at 45. Three golfers — PCM’s Dayton Boell and Lynnville-Sully’s Bayley Morvant and Kolton Fisk — each came in at 47.

Kyle Van Dyke and Caleb Jansen of Lynnville-Sully posted 48s. Holden Jansen shot a 68.

PCM’s Elijah Sperfsiage and Jackson Thomas shot a 54 and a 55, respectively.

Lynnville-Sully takes on English Valley and host BGM Thursday at Brooklyn. PCM plays Dallas Center-Grimes and host Pella Thursday in Pella at Bos Landen Golf Course.
