CMB-CN boys golf team struggles in season opener

STORY CITY — The season opener for the Collins-Maxwell/Baxter-Colo-NESCO boys golf team did not go as planned for coach Dana Accola on Monday.

Grant Waline fired a 39 and the other three counting scores for Roland-Story were all lower than CMB-CN’s top golfer as the Norse beat the Raiders 167-195.

Waline’s medalist honor was backed up with a 41 from John Barclay, a 43 from Colton Arnold and a 44 from Cole Matheason.

CMB’s top golfer was Garrett Huske, who fired 45. Jake Hennick shot a 46, while the final two counting scores came from two Colo-NESCO students — Isaiah Texeira and Brevin Johnston.

Texeira and Johnston each turned in a 52.

CMB returns to the links at 4:15 p.m. Thursday when it travels to West Marshall.
