• CAA Youth Sculpture Project will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at in Newton. Please join the Centre for Arts & Artists, 501 W. Third St. N., to help design and create a sculpture for the CAA grounds. • American Heart Association CPR/ First Aid will meet at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Newton YMCA 1701 S. Eighth Ave. E. in Newton. This training covers CPR and First Aid in the same class. There is a $50 fee for this training (whether you attend one or both). Both certifications are good for two years.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Masonic Temple in Prairie City.

• Cellphone for Soldiers will begin at 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at DMACC Newton Campus 600 N. Second Ave. W. in Newton. Drop old cellphone off at the front desk of the Newton Campus now until April 28.

• Total Forgiveness women’s study will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Hephzibah House 721 E. Fourth St. S. in Newton.

• Wine Down will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Van Wijk Winery, 802 Fourth St. in Sully. Wine Down Social Members enjoy wine and gather to create an informal social club to network and meet new friends. Singles meet others who share similar interests.

• Kid Fest will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at Baxter Community Library 202 East State in Baxter. A library open house for younger children and their families

• Iowa Speedway 8k “Where the Rubber Meets the Road” will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at Iowa Speedway 3333 Rusty Wallace Dr in Newton. The 8th Annual Iowa Speedway 8k “Where the Rubber Meets the Road” is a joint effort between Progress Industries and the Iowa Speedway. The 8K or five-mile race will start at the exit of pit road with the firing of the starter’s pistol, continue out and around the Speedway property, enter back through the infield tunnel, and finish with a lap around the 7\/8-mile tri-oval. Race organizers say registrations are coming in strong for the 8th annual event and encourage people to come out for the race even if you don’t plan on participating

• Jasper County Democrats host its Off-Year Caucus will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jasper County Community Center in Newton. The party will be getting organized for the next election.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton. ___

• Spring Supper will meet at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Congregational United Church of Christ 218 S. Main St. in Baxter. Menu: ham balls, au gratin potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, salads, pies, beverages

• Haunted History Tour will meet at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hunter Mansion 223 W 4th St S in Newton. Discover new thrills by experiencing the Hunter Mansion at night. You will go on a Haunted History Tour & Paranormal Investigation of the Hunter Mansion. This event includes: a beverage (soft drink, tea or wine) and dessert. We will also have tools available for use during the ghost investigation. If you have them bring a camera and voice recorder.
