Andy Simatovich, 70, of Ferguson, died in his home on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7 at Mitchell family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 6 at the funeral home. Andrew Simatovich was born on Feb. 1, 1945, in Mystic, the son of Andrew and Hazel (Walton) Simatovich. He was raised in Centerville, and educated at the Centerville Community School District graduating with the class of 1963. Andy was united in marriage to Karen Drew and later divorced. On May 7, 2011, he married Sheryl Davis at Hickory Grove Church in Jasper County. Andy was employed at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown for 39 years, before retiring in 2003. Andy enjoyed traveling — especially in Missouri, and classic cars, collecting hats, history museums and telling jokes. He was a member of the local UAW 893, a volunteer fireman and enjoyed helping with his girls when they played softball.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheryl Simatovich of Ferguson; his children, Kim (David) Pepe of Gladbrook, Jami (Jason) Drew of Gladbrook; step-children, Kenneth (Sonya) Gwinn of Russell, Penny Shaw of Chariton, Darwin (Beth) Gwinn of Williamson, Tony Gwinn of Corydon; son-in-law, Scott Weidler of Ames; grandchildren, Ariel Elizabeth Pepe, Joseph Andrew Pepe, Emilee May Pepe, Dalton Roberts, Kenneth Scott Weidler, Jaci Leigh Drew, Lily Reigh Drew and Garrett Glen Drew; 12 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; his brothers, Clarence (Iona) Simatovich of Newton, Ronald (Linda) Simatovich of Ferguson; and sister, Vicki (Greg) Palmer of Centerville.

Andy was proceeded in death by his parents, Andrew and Hazel; daughter, Susie Weidler; and grandson, Tyson Drew.
