• James A. Garland, 35, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled him over in the 600 block of South Fifth Avenue East at 12:10 a.m. March 22. Officers smelled alcohol on Garland and he had bloodshot, watery eyes. His speech was also slurred and he had a BAC of .248. He was cited and released to appear.

• William T. Sayles, 41, of Kenosha, Wis. is charged with contempt after authorities were called to Berg School at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday. Officers were told that Sayles was seen with a person that has a protective order against him. Officers located Sayles and found that he was with the person that has the protective order against him. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• James L. Koon, 22, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him in the 2500 block of South 13th Avenue East at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday. Officers saw him driving a vehicle and knew that his license was suspended. He was cited and released to appear.
