My letter is short, sweet and to the point: Put NCSD schools back the way they were before — the five neighborhood K-6 elementary schools (Thomas Jefferson, Woodrow Wilson, Emerson Hough, Berg Elementary and Aurora Heights); the 7-8 middle school and the 9-12 high school. Everything was perfectly fine then, and sometimes things that have worked just fine in the past really shouldn’t be changed.
As far as purchasing the old Hy-Vee West building, I think it’s a perfect place for the administration building to go, but for Basics & Beyond, it may be a safety issue due to the amount of traffic that flows up and down First Avenue West every day. Maybe the city could look at part of the former Maytag/Iowa Telecom building.
