Integrated Treatment Services remodels facility in 2014

Integrated Treatment Services has made some noticable changes over the last year to its facility in Newton but while its image has changed, its business as usual inside.

ITS is owned and operated by Terry and Karen Sallis, both with a master of social work degree, licensed and certified substance abuse counselors. They founded ITS in 2004.

Together, along with their staff, provide a variety of outpatient evaluation and treatment programs to individuals in the community. Those services include traditional and culture-specific substance abuse treatment programs, socialization education, anger management, employment training program and operating while intoxicated evaluations and classes.

In the last year, ITS added made some upgrades to its facility, 303 S. Second Ave. W. in Newton. A new roof was added, red siding and windows.

Substance Abuse

ITS offers substance abuse evaluation and outpatient treatment programs including: comprehensive evaluations; individualized treatment plans; culture specific programs for African-Americans; individual counseling sessions; and group counseling sessions.

Mental Health

ITS offers mental health treatment for various diagnoses. Therapy is focused around each client’s needs and can vary depending on the individual and his/her treatment strategies.

Most therapy plans include cognitive psychotherapy but other methods can be beneficial for certain clients. For example, children usually feel more comfortable talking while engaged in a play activity, Sallis said.

Drunk Driving

ITS offers a Prime for Life risk reduction program. The first goal of the program is to help each participant in the program reduce risk for any type of alcohol of drug problem. The second goal focuses on self-assessment to help people understand and accept the need to make changes to protect the things most valuable in their lives.

Integrated Treatment Services provides services Monday through Friday by appointment. Appointments may also be provided on Saturday in an emergency.
