Bette J. McConeghey, 75, of Monroe, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13 at the Monroe United Methodist Church with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Howard and Jane (Hart) Nimmo, Bette was born Jan. 5, 1940, in What Cheer. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1957. On June 3, 1961, she was united in marriage to Miles “Mick” McConeghey. Bette worked at the Vernon Company in Newton, PAG in Monroe, Maytag Dairy and also at Monroe Congregate Meals. She was affiliated with the Monroe United Methodist Church and for a short time Tools Point Chapel.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Mick; children, Elizabeth (Kevin) Churchill and Daniel (Lisa) McConeghey; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry Nimmo and Herb Nimmo; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Howard Nimmo Jr. and Harlan Nimmo; and two sisters, Jo Hollingsworth and Imogene Dailey.
