Meals from the Heartland

The third annual Jasper County 4-H Meals From The Heartland Event was held on Feb. 8. This year we packaged 31,104 meals for Meals From The Heartland, and made more than 100 Valentines that were delivered to nursing homes in Jasper County.  Last year we packaged 23,544 meals, and the year before that 6,480 meals. This event just gets better and better, and is a perfect fit for our 4-H Clubs, where Community Service and Citizenship are pillars of the 4-H Program and two Life Skills that are emphasized. Local 4-H Leaders, 4-H members, and their families are very willing to make a difference by using “their hands for larger service,” which is part of the 4-H Pledge.
