DES MOINES — Des Moines police say they believe a man found dead in a city street early Saturday is the victim of a hit-and-run incident.
Police spokesman Jason Halifax says in a statement a 21-year-old man was found on University Avenue at around 2 a.m. Saturday. His name is being withheld until relatives are notified. Halifax says traffic investigators identified a white newer model Dodge Avenger as a possible vehicle involved in the collision.
He says it has been located and impounded but no suspected driver was immediately taken into custody.
