Twyla J. Lee, 79, of Newton, passed from this life Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, at the First Assembly of God Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Memorials to the First Assembly of God Church or the Taylor House Hospice may be left at the church or the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Twyla, the daughter of Henry and Tula (Jenness) Mobley, was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Guthrie Center. She grew up and attended school in Guthrie Center. Twyla was united in marriage to Charles Lee July 17, 1954, in Jefferson. They made their home in Des Moines, where Twyla worked as a dietary technician at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles and being with her family.

Those left to honor Twyla’s memory are her sons, Charles (Patti) Lee of Owasso, Okla., Jerry Lee of Alabama, Roy (Tina) Lee of Des Moines, Henry (Laura) Lee of Des Moines, and Douglas (Angie) Lee of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Marcella “Sally” Shelley, Jewell Horning and Nancy Comin; and many nieces and nephews, including nephew, Ralph Parnell of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Lee; daughter, Twyla D. Lee; and her siblings, Maisie Johnson, George Mobley, Joseph Mobley, Zynaga “Paulie” Erickson, Mary Jane Salmon and Harry “Butch” Mobley.
