Newton High’s Cardinal girls play their first-round Class 4A Region 6 opponent Tuesday night in the second go-round of Little Hawkeye Conference play.
The Cardinals are at Grinnell Tuesday to start the final week of regular-season play.
With Monday’s announcement of the IGHSAU Class 4A girls’ basketball pairings, the Cardinals will play Grinnell for a third time this season in the opening round of their regional. Regional play begins Feb. 18.
Newton plays at Grinnell at 7 p.m.on Feb. 18 and the winner faces 15th-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 at Grimes. In the other side of the Region 6 bracket, Boone plays Webster City on Feb. 18 and the winner takes on fourth-ranked Ballard on Feb. 21 at Huxley.
The Class 4A Region 6 championship game is Feb. 24 at Alleman.
