Disco is not dead just ask NHS bowlers

The Pressbox

As a child of the late 1960s and the 1970s, I know disco.

Disco is alive and well here in Newton. Well, at least for one night at Cardinal Lanes.

Newton High’s bowling teams host their fourth-annual Disco Bowling Night to raise funds for the teams Monday. Flashing neon lights and I’m going to guess so me funky 1970s disco music, or not, will be going strong on the bowling alleys at Cardinal Lanes.

For $10, you can have unlimited bowling from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cardinal Lanes. Funds raised are split between the teams and the bowling alley. Newton’s bowling teams use the money to purchase the team shirts.

So, if you’re feeling like you want to get down to some funky music and roll a few bowling balls under the disco lights, head to Cardinal Lanes Monday evening for some fun. You’ll be supporting the NHS bowling teams, which are having a good season so far.

The Cardinal bowlers host their final home meet Saturday morning at Cardinal Lanes. Pella Christian comes to town. Action begins at 9 a.m. and it is Senior Day for the NHS teams.

That’s right it is getting down to the nitty-gritty of the winter sports seasons for the high school teams. Newton’s swim team had its Senior Night Thursday.

Newton’s wrestling team’s Senior Night is next week on Thursday. Newton’s basketball teams will have Senior Night and Coaches Against Cancer on Feb. 6.

Newton’s Legacy Night is Jan. 30 honoring former coach David Rowray.
