Newton Police Department

• Kevin R. Lennie, 48, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault and arrested on a Poweshiek County warrant for violation of a court order after authorities were called to 1426 First Ave. E. #2D at 8:05 p.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with the victim who alleged she had verbal altercations with Lennie where he got in her face before she put up her arm to defend herself. She said that Lennie calmed down but then approached her again before she called for help. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Matthew M. Owen, 34, of Newton, was arrested on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities found him in the 100 block of East Fourth Street North at 12:45 a.m. Thursday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dustin C. Doran, 33, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear after authorities were called to Skiff Medical Center at 4:26 a.m. Sunday. He called dispatch for a medical issue when it was recognized he had a warrant out in his name. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• William R. Floyd, 50, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation after authorities were called to the 500 block of North Third Avenue East at 6:38 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Francisco J. Sandoval, 24, of Newton, is charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness after authorities were called to Skiff Medical Center at 12:28 p.m. Friday. Officers spoke to Sandoval who admitted to hitting the victim in the face after she raised her hands in an aggressive manner towards him. He was cited and released to appear.

• Jacqueline C. Chiugu, 33, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Hy-Vee at 9:15 a.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with an employee who said that they saw Chiugu conceal items on her and then attempt to leave. The items totaled $37.09. She was cited and released to appear.

• Victor D. Walton, 50, of Newton, is charged with driving while barred after authorities pulled him over in the 400 block of West Second Street South at 4:40 a.m. Monday. Walton said that he had a temporary license but was unable to provide paperwork. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
