Kimberly “Kim” Spearing, 53, of Newton died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at her mother’s home. A celebration of Kim’s life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

The family will greet friends following the celebration at the funeral home and later at Least of Saints. Memorials to the Hope Lodge in Iowa City or the Least of Saints may be left at the funeral home.

Kim, the daughter of Stanley and Rosa (Whetstine) Dow, was born June 20, 1961, in Newton. She enjoyed learning and received a certificate as an electronics technician, a paralegal degree, and took many other college courses. Kim was united in marriage with Craig Spearing Dec. 4, 1976, in Bethany, Mo. They were blessed with one son, Dustin.

During their marriage, they lived in many different locations with Craig’s military career, but Newton was always home. Kim worked at the Maytag Company in Newton, for 13 years and later at Wal-Mart.

She attended Least of Saints and enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her granddaughters.

Kim was a loving daughter, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Kim is survived by her son, Dustin (Amanda) Spearing of Newton; two granddaughters, KayLee and Keiana Spearing; her mother, Rose Dow of Newton; siblings, Kay Dow, Mark (Debbie) Dow and Anita Bayles; and her two nephews, Nathan (Casey Greene) Landis and Isaiah Dow. She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Dow; and a niece, Miranda Dow.
