COLFAX — South Hamilton’s boys’ basketball team made a few more shots from outside against Colfax-Mingo on Tuesday and that proved to be the difference.
Making just one 3-pointer and turning it over 24 times, the Tigerhawks failed to stay with the defending Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference champions at home, losing 55-42 despite being down just 24-21 at the break.
Jared Myers finished with 11 points and six rebounds, while Jarod Nichols collected 10 points and eight boards, but the Tigerhawks dropped to 0-11 on the season.
Colin Lourens also had 11 rebounds in the loss.
South Hamilton buried six 3-pointers and was 15-of-25 from the line during the win. Landan Quam had two treys and a game-high 16 points, while Marco Balderos hit two 3-pointers and was 3-for-3 from the line for nine points.
Their other win was a 60-46 victory over Colfax-Mingo in Jewell earlier this season.
South Hamilton improved to 2-9 overall and 2-8 in conference play after the road victory.
The Tigerhawks travel to Grand View Christian on Thursday and to PCM on Friday.
