CMB girls suffer fifth straight loss

JEFFERSON — Collins-Maxwell/Baxter senior Mackenzie Schmitz scored a career-high 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to end the Raiders’ losing streak.

CMB closed the gap from its first meeting against Greene County, but the Rams extended the Raiders’ losing skid to five games Tuesday following a 65-52 win.

Brianda Bane had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Lexi Breon scored 12 and had six assists. Schmitz also finished with four assists, while Bridget Hurley scored nine points, grabbed seven boards and dished out three assists.

Greene County (6-7, 6-5) got 20 points from Kayla Mobley, 17 from Stacy Mears and 12 from Hannah Onken.

The win by the Rams completes the season sweep. Greene County also beat CMB 70-38 in Baxter earlier this year.

CMB (2-13, 2-10) hopes to end its five-game losing streak Friday when it hosts North Polk at 6 p.m.
