Elsie Vinson, 87, of Newton, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at the Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service and again after the service with a lunch at the funeral home. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association may be left at the funeral home.

Elsie, the daughter of Noah Samuel and Lola Myrtle (Black) Reinier, was born on Aug. 27, 1927, in rural Ottumwa. She graduated from Agency High School.

Elsie was united in marriage with Ted L. Vinson April 14, 1946, in Newton, where they made their home. She worked as a cafeteria assistant for the Newton Schools and was also a homemaker. Elsie was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge. She was an exceptional cook and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Elsie is survived by her four daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Nellis of Fleming Island, Fla., Cheryl (Bob) Deutsch of Cedar Rapids, Sandi Cupples of Newton, and Debbra (Craig) Wearmouth of Newton; seven grandchildren, Richard Deutsch, Brandi (Rob) Foster, Christopher Deutsch, Lisa (George) Gonzalez, Justin (Mendy) Vinson, Joseph Wearmouth and Rachel (Will) Wilimek; her 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth (Frances) Reinier of Kansas City, Mo., Stanley Reinier of Martinsburg, Leslie (Jean) Reinier of Greeley, Kan., Wayne (Arlajean) Reinier, Rosemary Moyer of Cedar Rapids, and Edith Heemsberger of Agency; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted Vinson; son, Terry in infancy; granddaughter, Karmen Hawkins; two brothers; and one sister.
