• Jolene K. Lewis, 37, of Newton, is charged with controlled substance violation, failure to affix drug stamp, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance after authorities pulled her over in the 700 block of South Fifth Avenue East at 3:50 a.m. Jan. 13. Officers saw a car with a plate that showed the license suspended of the owner. When they started following the vehicle it began taking frequent turns. After they pulled over the vehicle they found Lewis who did not have a license. While searching the vehicle, officers found two bags with several syringes, five phones, $663.19, marijuana, meth pipes, spoons, snort tubes, a scale and meth along with various pills. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Curtis D. D. Royce, 20, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Family Video at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 13. Officers spoke with an employee who said that Royce asked for a bathroom key, then heard the door open several times and saw Royce in the adult section during that time. After Royce left the employee noticed several movie cases missing and two cases out of place. During that time no other person had entered the adult section. When checking the bathroom, the employee found two cases in the trash. The total of the items taken is $10.54. Royce was cited and released to appear.
