MCC and IVCE host open house Wednesday

New advanced manufacturing and health occupation areas showcased

MARSHALLTOWN – Marshalltown Community College and Iowa Valley Continuing Education will host an open house this month to showcase its newly remodeled Advanced Manufacturing and Health Occupations areas.

The open house will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m.

“We are thrilled to be able to show off our new spaces,” says Robin Lilienthal, MCC Provost. “In today’s high-tech, high-skill work environments — whether in the health care or manufacturing industries — we know that it is important for our students to be trained with equipment and simulators that will develop both technical skills and soft skills like team work, communication, and leadership for success in the workplace. Our renovated health care and advanced manufacturing labs and classrooms are designed to meet those goals.

“We encourage members of our community to join us for a few refreshments while they can tour our renovated training facilities.”

Special guests include Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds; Rita Grimm, COO/General Counsel, Iowa Economic Development Authority; representatives from the Iowa Department of Education; and local state legislators.

The open house is open to the public, and will take place at Marshalltown Community College, 3700 S. Center St.

Guests may enter at the northwest entrance (Door No. 1) to view the Advanced Manufacturing facility, or the south entrance (Door No. 9) to view the Health Occupations wing. Refreshments will be provided.
