Harry A. Brodrick, 84, of Newton, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association may be left at the funeral home. If mailing, add, “Attn: Brodrick Family” to the envelope.

Harry, the son of C. Nelson and Ruth (Lovitt) Brodrick, was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Des Moines. He graduated from Des Moines North High School in the Class of 1948. Harry was united in marriage with Lynnette C. Dellaert on Jan. 14, 1966, in Wheaton, Ill. The couple lived in Evanston for several years, before moving to Newton. Harry had worked for different insurance companies over the years and finished his career working as an executive officer at the Coronet Insurance Company in Chicago. He enjoyed reading, collecting stamps, and researching genealogy.

Harry is survived by his wife, Lynnette Brodrick of Newton; daughter, Carolyn Quinn of Schaumburg, Ill.; son, Charles (Tammie) Yabuta-Brodrick of Roselle, Ill.; five grandchildren: Collin Quinn, Keith Yabuta-Brodrick, Meagan Quinn, Jacqueline Yabuta-Brodrick and Ryan Quinn; his great-granddaughter, Molly Quinn; his sister, Martha Abbas of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Dale Abbas.
