Library to feature ‘Jersey Boys’ and computer classes

Free movie showing of “Jersey Boys” will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the library meeting room. Synopsis: The story of four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic 1960s rock group The Four Seasons.

Introduction to

Computers Class

There will be two classes on Jan. 9 on computer basics. Call the library at 641-792-4108 to register for 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. Learn how to turn a computer on and off, use a mouse and keyboard, open windows and tabs and the basic components to get you started. This is a one-shot class.

Have a new Tablet?

If you received a new tablet for the holidays, bring it into the library to learn how to download eBooks and audiobooks. We can also help you sync email and connect to Wi-Fi. There will be a class on Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. in the meeting room as well, teaching how to download eBooks. Bring you library card and fully charged tablet along with you.

Homebound Reader Service

The library offers access to library materials to people unable to visit the library in person because of illness, injury, mobility or disability. The library will match the homebound individual with a volunteer who will deliver books for patrons within city limits of Newton. Homebound readers will be able to check out books, audiobooks and magazines. If you would like to apply for Homebound Reader service call the information desk at 641-792-4108 to request an application be mailed to you.

Music Downloads

Download and own songs from the extensive Freegal database! Up to three songs per week, or one song and a music video. Every Monday, three new downloads will again be available with your library card. Go to www.freegalmucsic.com and log in with your up-to-date library card.

Display Case

Reservations

The library is now taking reservations for our display cases for the year of 2015 (reservations are for one month’s time). The library has two display cases, the lobby and the memorial display case, located inside the library. The lobby is open to nonprofit groups and organizations to share their information. The memorial display case is for individuals wishing to showcase their collections. To reserve a display case, call Nicole Lindstrom at 641-792-4108.
