Two calls warned of courthouse explosion

Two calls made to the Jasper County Courthouse warned of a bomb explosion scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday.

Jasper County Sheriff John Halferty said at a news conference the a voicemail was received just after 7 a.m. in the treasurer's office. A phone call received just after 8 a.m. made a similar warning.

The courthouse was evacuated and closed while authorities searched the courthouse; nothing was found.

All offices at the courthouse will be reopened for business by 2 p.m., Halferty said. The case remains under investigation.
